Leah Sutton answered on 4 Feb 2022:
Right before COVID we were in the middle of an expansion to increase our ability to produce more parts. Once COVID hit and commercial airline travel slowed way down so did our demand for airplane brake parts. So, for the past couple of years we have been figuring out how to operate at this low demand. Now we are beginning to see demand increasing which is a good thing but we also need to figure out how to keep up with the demand with limited resources ($$). On top of that our site is one of the highest greenhouse gas contributors in the entire company so we have a lot of pressure to figure our creative ways to lower our emissions as well as reduce use of other resources such as water for cooling. Figuring out how to operate our processes this way is a big challenge on its own but while demand increases adds even more challenges.
